About Sonday Dinner

Our Story

Sonday Dinner, established by Billy Council, was created to address the stark realities facing Black men, with a focus on mental health. Data reveals alarming disparities: Black men are more likely to experience persistent and severe mental health symptoms but less likely to receive treatment compared to their white counterparts. Studies show that only 25% of Black adults with mental illness receive treatment, compared to 40% of white adults.

We prioritize authentic conversations as the cornerstone of our mission to foster genuine connections and address pressing issues within communities of color.

Our mission

Our mission is to establish a safe space for men in communities of color to challenge stereotypes and break down societal constraints. Through our engagements, where honesty and vulnerability cultivate deep connections and support, Sonday Dinner is reshaping the narrative by creating environments where men are empowered to share openly and authentically. We are dedicated to equipping individuals with the tools to overcome challenges, build resilience, and drive positive change within their communities.

Our services include:

  • Life coaching
  • Educational support, including mentoring, seminars and workshops in the field of mental health
  •  Facilitating events centered on mental health, community service, and career development to enhance cultural awareness and offer educational opportunities

Through these services, we aim to equip individuals with the skills to grow personally and professionally, while fostering a supportive network that enables men to thrive in all aspects of life.
